KCPC Legacy
KCPC LEGACY
This venture was launched by my family in 1978.
A small room in Sikar. A few karigars. Pattern sets that had existed in the area for centuries.
Everything else in our enterprise has evolved since then. The shop has expanded. The orders came from different cities to different countries. Our machinery became more sophisticated.
However, there are things that are still made in the traditional way. Slowly. By hand. With the same knots, dyes, and patterns that we started with.
This is what this page is about.
What Makes These Pieces Different
Most of our stock is of regular wear. Stunning, beautifully crafted, and affordable enough for you to get one every season.
But Legacy is not such stuff.
These are our finest karigars' masterpieces, which take months for them to complete. This bandhani uses a greater number of knots per inch. It is made of the quality gota, not the inferior one. The material used is the genuine silk, not imitation of it.
We create very few such items. Some of them are made very rarely, even less than once a year. Once sold, they might never be created again.
This is the kind of things we would have kept for ourselves.
Kaccha Gota, and Why It Matters
Kaccha gotapatti you'll notice on some items around here. And this is what it means to know.
The gota refers to the thin strips of gold fabric that are stitched onto the cloth.
In the fast version, the strip is flattened out and stitched onto the cloth. Fast and looks good from a distance.
In the kaccha version, the karigar manipulates the ribbon by hand while stitching, creating each petal and every leaf through the folds of the ribbon. He is basically sketching with the ribbon.
One border can take up a whole day's time. One dupatta can take up a whole week.
Notice how the ribbon twists and weaves in the case of the kaccha gota. The hand work done. The machine can't do this.
The Crafts You Will Find Here
Hand Tied Bandhani: Tens of thousands of knots that are individually tied and then dyed. The more delicate the knots, the better the craft. Our best tying goes into legacy designs.
Ghatchola: A bandhani design within squares made by zari lines and with a tiny motif in each square. This is the oldest wedding design of this region.
Neemzari: This is a delicate weave design with zari thread woven into it. This is quiet, rich and highly difficult to make.
Kaccha gotapatti: The above explained craft of gota made using the hand.
Aari tari work: This is delicate needle work done with a hooked needle stitch by stitch.
Sometimes two to three of these are found in one design. For example, a bandhani ground with ghatchola squares and kaccha gota borders.
The Fabrics
Gaji Silk: Heavy, lustrous, good hold and drapes very well. Wedding material of Rajasthan.
Khaddi Georgette: This is heavy compared to regular georgette with great drape. It ages well.
Munga Silk: Naturally textured raw silk. Warm in nature, not lustrous.
Upada Silk: Soft lustre, lightweight fabric.
Pure Chiffon: Lightest of all. Used for our best gota work as it shows the work.
We use no blends in this range.
What These Pieces Cost and Why
These prices range between Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 45,000.
This number is arrived at based on two factors. The fabric used and the days the karigar worked on it.
The creation of an elaborate ghatchola lehenga with full kaccha gota could take a team between three and four weeks to complete. This period is the cost incurred.
We share this information straightforwardly so that we leave no room for any doubt about the cost incurred.
Every Piece is Checked by Hand
Before a Legacy piece leaves us, it goes through a five step hand check.
The dye is checked for evenness. The knots are checked for gaps. The gota is checked for loose stitches. The fabric is checked for pulls. The finishing and the fall are checked last.
If something is not right, the piece goes back and does not ship. This is why our pre order times are honest and sometimes longer than you would like.
Who This Collection is For
A bride that wants what she will want even after her daughter’s marriage.
A woman that is shopping for only one saree for the whole year, rather than four regular ones.

Made to Order, Mostly
Many of the Legacy artworks come already stocked and will be shipped within 2 to 3 working days.
Most of the items are manufactured after you place the order. This depends upon the item and could take anywhere between 15 to 30 working days. The duration is mentioned on each product description page.
In case of a wedding date, please write to us before placing the order, and we will inform you sincerely if we are able to deliver it in time or not.
We ship to all over India and over 30 other countries.
Living With a Legacy Piece
Only dry-clean. Always. Without fail for all these.
Keep in cotton or muslin bag. No plastic. Gold embroidery requires fresh air; otherwise it loses its shine.
Unfold it after every few months and refold using different folds. This will prevent the formation of permanent crease marks on the silk.
Always put a thin piece of cotton cloth between the embroidered sections while folding. Rubbing gota against gota damages it.
Press only the smooth portions of the fabric by turning them inside out with cloth above.
By taking care of these in this manner, they will outlast the person who purchases them. That is what their purpose is.

FAQs
1. What is Legacy collection of KCPC?
It is our best creation. Bandhani, Ghatchola, Neemzari, and Kaccha Gotapatti created slowly by our experienced karigars in Sikar. Limited pieces, better finish.
2. How does Legacy differ from other collections of yours?
It uses better silk, finer workmanship, and requires many more days of karigar work per piece. Other collections are for everyday festive wear. Legacy collection is created for special occasions and for keepsake.
3. What is Kaccha Gotapatti?
It is gota work in which karigars shape the gold ribbon by hand directly on fabric, without cutting any shapes and pasting them. It requires more time but produces rich looking pieces.
4. Why are these items expensive?
Because of the quality of the fabric and the time taken to produce them. A heavy item may take three to four weeks. This is your payment for that period.
5. Are these items handmade or machine made?
Handmade. The tie up, dyeing, and gota making is done by hand in our own unit.
6. Would I be getting exactly what is shown in the photo?
Yes, but not precisely the same. These are hand-made and hence there is a variation in the color of the dye as well as the position where the work is done.
7. How long would it take for me to receive my order?
Ready made items will be delivered in 2 to 3 working days while those which are made to order would take 15 to 30 days.
8. I have the wedding date. Will you manage to deliver on time?
Please write us with your date before you place the order. We will tell you honestly whether it is possible.
9. Can I get my size?
Yes, mostly for all items. Please contact our team on WhatsApp before you place the order.
10. How should I wash it?
Only dry cleaning. Not at home.
