Hold a gaji silk lehenga in your hand you will know right away why it costs more if the cloth is thick. It shines but not in a cheap way. It does not get crushed when you hold it. Families in Rajasthan and Gujarat have used this cloth for wedding clothes for many years. There is a good reason for that.

What is Gaji Silk
Gaji silk is a thick silk one side is smooth and shiny the other side is flat.
Two things make it good for wedding clothes:
First it takes colour very well. Our workers tie the bandhani knots and put the cloth in dye. The colour goes deep inside on thin cloth. The same colour looks faded on gaji silk; it looks rich and full.
Second, it has body. It stands up on its own. It does not stick to your legs when you walk the lehenga opens up and stays round. This is why brides pick it for the big day.
One thing to keep in mind. Gaji silk is heavy. It is not good for a hot afternoon. It is best for evening and for weddings.
Bandhani and Ghatchola
Most pieces here have one of these two designs.
Bandhani
His tie and dye the worker picks up a tiny bit of cloth and ties it with thread. He does this many thousands of times then the cloth goes in the dye. Where the thread was tied the colour cannot go in that spot stays white. One lehenga can have lakhs of these dots each one is tied by hand.
Ghatchola
is bandhani with a box design thin gold lines cross the cloth and make small boxes inside each box there is a bandhani flower. This is the oldest wedding design in our area in Gujarat. A bride is often given a ghatchola on her wedding day.
Most of our ghatchola lehengas also have gotta patti work. Gota patti is a thin gold ribbon. It is cut and sewn by hand into leaf and flower shapes this is the work KCPC Bandhani has been doing since 1978.
How to Check It is Real
This is useful to know before you buy from anyone.
Turn the saree over, real bandhani shows the dots on the back side too the dye went all the way through. A print saree will only show on the front.
Look at the dots, printed dots are all the same size and sit in a straight line and hand tied dots are a little uneven. That is not a fault, that is the proof it was made by hand.
Touch the gotta, real gotta patti has small stitches. You can feel them with your finger. Fake gotta be glued or printed and feels flat.
See the shine, gaji silk has a soft deep shine, cheap cloth shines hard under phone light.

Every piece here is a full set lehenga, choli and dupatta. The lehenga is about 42 inches long. The width is 42 to 44 inches. Do you need a longer one or a bigger waist? Message us on WhatsApp before you order. We can change the size of most pieces.

Pieces here start near rs.3,000 and go up past rs.19,000.
The price depends on only two things. How much pure gaji silk is used and how many hours of hand work is on it.
A simple bandhani lehenga with a light gotta border cost less. A ghatchola set with heavy gotta work on the skirt, the border and the full dupatta takes weeks to make. So it costs more.
If someone sells you a heavy hand work gaji silk lehenga for two thousand rupees the work on it is printed or glued there is no other way.

Pre order, means we make it after you order. It takes 15 to 30 working days. Heavy work takes longer than writing on each product page.
We keep this option because hand work cannot be made in bulk before time. A worker sitting with a needle takes the time he takes.

Wedding day and reception. This is what gaji silk is made for. Red, rani and maroon look best.
Engagement and sangeet. Ghatchola sets look very good in indoor light.

Family ceremonies in many rajasthani and marwari homes a gaji silk lehenga is part of what the bride is given.
For a day time haldi or a summer mehendi we will tell you the truth. gaji silk will feel too hot. Look at our kota doria or georgette pieces from those days.
How to Take Care of It
Dry clean only. Please do not wash it at home gaji silk and hand dyed bandhani will not survive a home wash.
Never twist it to take the water out.
Keep it folded in a cotton cloth bag. Do not keep it in a plastic cover and hand work needs air in plastic. The gold work goes dull.
When you iron, put a thin cotton cloth on top, never put the iron straight on gotta patti or stone work.
Open the fold every few months and fold it a different way this stops hard fold marks on the silk.

Gaji silk is a thick silk known for its shine and body. Our pieces are marked as pure gaji silk on the product page. If a piece is mixed we write that clearly.
Is the bandhani tied by hand?
Yes. Our workers in Sikar tie and dye it. You can see the dots on the back side of the cloth that is how you check hand work.
What is the difference between bandhani and ghatchola?
Bandhani is the dot work ghatchola is bandhani inside a box grid made of gold lines ghatchola is the heavier wedding type.
Does it come with a blouse and dupatta?
Yes, Every piece here is a set of three.
Can I get my own size?
The normal length is about 42 inches for any other size, message our team on whatsapp before you order.
How do I wash it?
Dry clean only no machine wash no hand wash.
Why does pre order take 15 to 30 days?
Because we make the piece after you order heavy gota patti and bandhani work cannot be hurried. If we rush it the finish will be poor.
What if the piece has a fault?
A piece with a real making fault can be changed. You have 3 days from the day you get it the full policy is at the bottom of every page.
